Mr. Donald Fisher, age 88, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010. He served his country during WWII in the Army/Air Force as Second Lt. and Bombardier, flying on 35 bombing missions. After the service, Don married his high school sweetheart, Beverly. He operated Don’s Owens Gas Station (44th & 131). He was a member of the Silver Lake Country Club, and the Loyal Order of Moose in Sparta where he enjoyed playing cards with friends. Don taught others by being a role model with kindness, caring, respectfulness, and being a person who valued hard work. His family was very important to him. Don is survived by his loving wife, Beverly who he married 65 years ago; daughter, Susan and John Wagner of Plainwell, MI; grandchildren, Sharon (David) DeCambra, Scott Fisher, Dianna (Donald) Bowers, and Aubrey (Derrick) Wisinski; three great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Susan Fisher; sister, Doris (Ken) Brietung; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his children, John D. Fisher, Steven J. Fisher, and several brothers and sisters. Military honors will be under the auspices of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard.
