Mr. Thomas Streeter, of Grand Rapids and formerly of Rockford, passed away as he wished on his 84th birthday, July 13, 2010. When the call of his country was heard during WW II and the Korean War, WT3rd Class Thomas Streeter, answered. Self was forgotten for a greater clause and with an abiding faith in God, Country and Flag he marched away to serve in the US Navy. Tom was a member of Courtland-Oakfield United Methodist Church, a life time member of Rockford Lodge # 246 F. &A.M., a member of the American Legion Merritt Lamb Post # 102, and a retiree from Pioneer Construction. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Bergman and his brothers, James R. Streeter and Ivan (Janet) Streeter. Tom is survived by his loving wife and best friend, the former Ardyth Norton, whom he married on January 1, 1948, his daughters, Gayle (John) Markus, Nita (Rich) Randall, and Lori Streeter, 7 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, his brother in-law, Bill Bergman, nieces and nephews. The service for Mr. Streeter will be Friday morning, July 16, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Courtland-Oakfield United Methodist Church with his pastor, Rev. Jeff Williams, officiating. Interment will be in Courtland Twp. Cemetery. Military honors will be under the auspices of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held on Thursday evening at 8:30 at the funeral home. Family and friends may gather from 2-4 and 7-9 on Thursday at the Pederson Funeral Home.
